Evaluation Question 4

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We have used a wide variety of technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages. Such as "prezzi" and we have also used IPads to make pictures and wordings appear on the screen. Our main energy source was the internet, because it helped us find out about the conventions of music videos etc. We also used "Final Cut" to edit our music video- which is one of the most professional software for editing.

I have gathered a lot of experience using all these technologies, our video is to a good standard with the low budget we had. We used "prezzi" for presentations and it was very unique, because it had its own style.

We used the IPads for drawing characters- if we were to have any cartoon in our music video, and for any writings. We used the IMac for the editing works aswell, therefore we mostly used products made by Apple- which also helped us get used to Apple products. It was very new to us, however we got used to it and end of the day our music video was to a professional standard. With editing we picked up a lot of useful skills, we used colour filters and colour correctors to make certain clips of our video stand out.

We used Facebook to communicate with others in our group, we decided and planned all shooting schedule using Facebook and through phones. Due to the improvements of the technologies, we have had a lot advantages, sometimes social websites are helpful too. Prezzi was really helpful when we were making presentations, because it is very easily accessible and read easily.

Evaluation Question 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

From our audience feedback we have gathered a lot of information, even though most of the comments made were positive there were one or two exceptions.

We received very good comments for our use of chromo key, where Kim was seen in black and white, whilst her dress and the leaves on the tree were yellow. They also loved the shot were Kim is spinning round in Lavender fields and roses are falling up on her, they said it went well with the story line of the music video. They also liked the shots were we put each shot on top of each layer. We also good a very positive feedback for our digipak. They said that it was aimed at audiences aged 16-24, which was our intention. We also got very good comments for the choice of locations, because it was all suitable for a "love" song. One of the audiences said- "I like the choice of your locations, because each one of them, if you think about it, gives a loveable feeling".

However our drawback was that, the front cover of our digipak wasn't very clear and that if a clear image of Kim was taken then it would of been really good. Another negative feedback we received was that "the use of layers, is ok for one or two shots but nothing more"- therefore it was a bit boring after a few times. One other comment that was raised was, the shot with Kim laying on the floor, was really good, but it seems as if she's "ill". Therefore we were considering changing it, but it was a really good shot, so we didn't make any changes.

Overall, we received a very good feedback from our audience, and they also stated that our music video will suit our target audience- 16-24. They also mentioned that our digipak poster was not really clear and that the picture was pretty dark, therefore we had to re-modify our front image for the poster.

Evaluation Question 2

Our main product has many features, it includes many effects such as chroma key, where you'll see Kim walking down the park and the leaves of the tree's and Kim's dress are yellow. We have used colour corrector to get the yellow effect on the tree leaves and on her dress. Along with this we have applied clips on top of each other- in layers, this brings a very effective shot, but however it only works with some clips, not all the clips will synchronise.

Our digipak a very good colour background, and on the back cover of the digipak we have a picture of roses to symbolise the clip where Kim spins around and rose petals fall upon her. Therefore, whenever they see rose petals, it will remind the audiences of our music video. The main cover is a long shot of Kim standing by brighton beach, and on the background there is a very nice shot of the sea. This makes her stand out from the background.

In the inside cover we have a picture of Kim, and therefore it will show the audience how and who has acted in the music video.

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our music video has all sort of different elements, such as the usage of Chromo key- where we made Kim stand out from the background. Her dress was coloured yellow- matching the autumn leaves, with the of colour corrector. We have also used different locations, unlike in some music videos where the artist only uses one place e.g. A studio. We have done our music video in three locations- Lavender fields, London and Brighton, we chose these locations because we thought that they were appropriate for our song- "Sun is Up". We had constant changes to hold the eyes of the audiences glued to the screen. In our music video we also have Style, which is one of the main component behind every successful music video. We have used mainly long shots to unveil the beautiful backgrounds and to make Kim stand out from the scenery. We also have a story line to go with the song, which is very unique because the story is usually isn't the dominant part of the video.

We have a mixture based storyline where the artist is playing as well as a narrative storyline occurring and the camera cross cuts to each scene. We have used few tracking shots and used jump cutting in our editing processes. We have also used bright lighting and creative settings. The colours would appeal to our target audience- mainly young teens, as many pop stars are young themselves and express themselves through the lyrics of the song. This is very effective because it shows their emotions and how they may feel.

Final A2 Music Video

digipak Final Version

This is our digipak for the album. In the front cover we used a shot of Kim standing by the shore with the beach at the background, it is effective because it makes her stand out from all the other objects around. On the front cover we also have a logo stating "special edition" to make it very unique. We wrote the title in a pinkish background to give the "crush" felling. The back cover involves a shot of Kim sitting at the seashore and beside her is is all the songs from the album. The name of the song is written in brown to match the colour of the stones on the shore. Kim's dress is also favoured with the colour of the background. At the bottom of the song list is the bar code. The name of the production company is also mentioned on the bottom of the back cover.

The background of the inner cover has petals of roses and is in a pink background. The pink background once again represents the "love" and "crush", whilst the idea of the roses came from the shot- where Kim is spinning round in Lavender fields whilst roses are falling upon her. The name of the production company is once again mentioned below in light blue letters. The informations in the inner cover tell you everything about the song, and the opinions from magazines and newspapers like "The Sun".

In the inside, where the CD is held, we have a picture of Kim on the background. It is not edited because it will be very effective without any effects added.
